Premium Redwood Decking & Diagonal Layout
For the Hunt County deck project, the homeowner requested a premium lumber material that would resist weather while delivering a striking visual appearance. We recommended sustainably sourced California Redwood, prized for its natural rich red tones and high resistance to insect damage and decay.
Rather than installing standard horizontal or vertical boards, our crew designed a complex 45-degree diagonal layout pattern. This required precise angle-cuts at every joist intersection and a solid blocking foundation beneath to ensure the board joints remain tight and perfectly flush.
Integrated Bench Seating & Privacy Walls
To maximize the usable seating area and maintain clean lines, Roger proposed building custom bench seating directly into the deck's perimeter. This eliminates the need for bulky outdoor furniture and keeps the deck open.
We built matching redwood benches with an ergonomic angled backrest for optimal comfort. Additionally, we constructed a slat-style privacy screen wall at the property boundary, shielding the deck from neighbor sightlines while allowing refreshing summer breezes to pass through.
Heavy-Duty Handrails & Structural Joinery
Every great deck requires a robust handrail system that is as strong as it is beautiful. We constructed custom-profiled redwood top caps and paired them with heavy 4x4-inch timber posts to build the perimeter railings.
Every post is mortised and through-bolted into the deck's double outer joists. This joinery completely eliminates handrail sway, satisfying strict structural building codes and offering a solid, rock-stable grip for the homeowners.
