Royal ISD hired E3 to undertake a district-wide energy efficiency and facility upgrade project. Royal ISD was facing many of the same problems that other districts face; high energy bills, constant problems with their energy management controls, chillers malfunctioning and widespread comfort complaints. Together E3 and Royal ISD crafted a plan that would address each one of these issues while saving the district’s precious MandO dollars in the process.

Royal ISD
The following projects were initiated to solve the issues:
- Chiller Installation: 7 new chillers throughout the district
- Plant Redesign: Chiller plant redesign and replacement
- Air Handling: RTU and DOAS redesign and replacement
- AHU Upgrade: AHU Replacement
- LED Retrofit: District-wide LED retrofit
- BAS Expansion: Installation and expansion of the Building Automation System
- Component Replacement: Replace control valves and dampers throughout the district
- Surge Protection: Surge Protection
- UPS Installation: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) installation
Results
The result of the project was dramatically reduced utility bills, fewer comfort complaints and maintenance calls, and a huge swipe out of their deferred maintenance. Additionally, this project will result in rebate incentives from CenterPoint Energy.
